Goodway Technologies Corporation

Goodway Technologies Corporation, based in Stamford, CT, is one of the latest enterprises to join the Reference Systems family.

Goodway was founded in 1966 by Per K. Reichborn.  Since its earliest days, the company has built a reputation for manufacturing the highest quality cleaning systems in the world.  "This commitment" says Reichborn, "not only extends to our manufacturing, but to everything we do, every day, for every product and service. Achieving this high quality of performance is the shared responsibility of each employee in every department."

Today, Goodway products span the globe, and are used in over 125 countries and on every continent, including Antarctica.

Goodway's current product line encompasses a wide range of tube/pipe cleaners, duct cleaners, vacuums, floor machines, high-pressure washers, and other maintenance related equipment.  Many of these products were developed as a result of customer requests.

Paul Bozek, Goodway's vice president of engineering, discusses the road leading up to selecting Reference Systems and Macola's Progression Software Series.

"We had a UNIX-based system in place, and we wanted to go to a Windows environment," he says.  "We also needed a Year 2000-compliant solution, combined with more visibility and flexibility."

Goodway reviewed a variety of packages.  Macola was chosen because, as Bozek describes, "it provided the functionality we required without forcing us to change a lot."

Progression 7.5 has just been recently implemented, and Bozek already likes what he sees.

"We pride ourselves in being a quick turnaround company," he says.  "Macola gives us excellent visibility on all fronts, helping us determine what we need to do to get orders filled.  I also like the fact that I can gather data instantaneously on my monitor.  Reports like inventory valuations are handled in seconds, instead of waiting until the end of the month.  I can see the 'big picture' of our operations daily."

"RSI has been very good," he says.  "They have been able to meet all of our requirements well.  Before the software was even implemented, they looked at our strengths and weaknesses, and helped us prepare for the new system."

Progression modules running at the 65-employee operation include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Assets & Depreciation, Bank Book, Bill of Material, Inventory Management, Master Scheduling, Material Requirements Planning, Order Entry, Production Order Processing, and Purchase Order & Receiving.  All are on a Windows NT network and Windows 95 operating system.

And while it might be early in the grand scheme of things, Bozek knows that selecting Macola was a good decision.

"We have not taken advantage of all the system has to offer yet," he concludes.  "But we definitely are planning on doing so."
